Behind the Book: Why I Wrote “ADHD Essentials Everyone Needs to Know”

Behind the Book: Why I Wrote “ADHD Essentials Everyone Needs to Know”

I didn’t believe it at first.
A close friend — who also happens to be a doctor — told me I probably had ADHD. I laughed. Me? ADHD? Come on.

Later, I told one of my best friends. I expected another laugh. Instead, she looked at me and said:
“Of course you do.”

That stopped me.

At first, I felt disoriented. Then curious.
I started researching. Reading. Obsessing a little.
It felt exciting — like someone had finally handed me the missing piece of a puzzle I didn’t even know I was working on.

And suddenly… everything started clicking.
I saw the patterns.
The signs.
The parts of me that never quite made sense — now did.

And that’s when the grief came in.
Grief for all the years I was hard on myself.
Grief for all the things I thought were “my fault.”
Grief for the girl I kept trying to fix — instead of understand.

Why this book?

Because every time I searched for answers, I found either a dense clinical wall…
or chaotic TikToks that left me feeling more scattered than before.

I didn’t need more noise.
I needed clarity.

I wanted something simple, beautiful, and honest.
Something that didn’t try to fix me.
Something that made me exhale.

So I made it.

For the women who are just finding out.
For the girls we used to be.
For the ones who always knew… but never had the words.

The turning point?

When the grief turned into fire.
When I realized this wasn’t just about me.

It was about every woman like me — late-diagnosed, searching, smart, overwhelmed, and misunderstood.
I knew I had to create something that made us feel seen.
Something that says:
You’re not crazy, and you’re not alone.

What I hope you feel:

  • Relief.

  • Recognition.

  • Softness.

  • Power.

This isn’t a textbook.
It’s a mirror.
It’s a place to land.
It’s a beginning.
